Musical Theatre Dance Class is an 8 week workshop designed to help students learn the vocabulary and basic steps and gain an overall knowledge of Musical Theater Dance. The curriculum will encompass the following genres of dance: jazz, tap, modern which are used in Musical Theater today. Each week students will build confidence and will grow in knowledge of the vocabulary and technique of Musical Theatre Dance as well as learning choreography.

Musical Theater Dance Class, Attire:

Ladies: Leotard or Tank Top with tights or leggings

Shoes: Black Jazz  or  Tan Character

Men: Sweats and t-shirt or tank top

Shoes: Black Jazz

Open to ages 12-19!

Lisa Grimes has been a dancer, dance educator and administrator for over 30 years. Lisa was a founding member of Freespace Dance a professional Modern Dance company and performed professionally for 3 years before taking on her current administrative role in 2002. Lisa also coordinates and is the primary teacher for Freespace Dance’s dance residencies programs. Additionally, through Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania, she works as a teaching artist throughout the state. She has been on faculty of her alma mater, Montclair State University Dance and Theater department, since 1999. She has also served on the faculties at Raritan Valley Community College and County College of Morris. In 2014, Lisa assumed the role of Executive Director of Dance New Jersey, the state’s service and advocacy for dancers and dance organizations. She sits on the Dance Advisory Board at NJPAC, the steering committee for the Arts in Education partnership, Morris County Arts Scholarship panel, and NJ Department of Education’s Core Curriculum Content Standards review Committee NJCCCS in dance. Lisa also works with the Gas Lamp Players based in Glen Ridge choreographing for summer main stage and Glee workshops. Lisa is thrilled to be working with NiCori Studios & Productions choreographing main stage productions, summer camp shows, performing and now teaching classes to their wonderful students. She is forever grateful for this opportunity to share her love of dance with the NiCori family.
